Sarah Collins, Charity Director at First Touch, who support sick & premature babies at St George's in Tooting, are looking for help from budding young artists in Tooting!
Louise and I are back at the neonatal unit after the Christmas and New Year holidays. And we are ready for the challenges and opportunities of 2019!
To start the year we'd love some help from young budding artists for a brand new project. Thanks to a generous donation from Willington School in Wimbledon, we have funding for a new scheme to provide bags of goodies for all siblings at the neonatal unit. Families have a very stressful time when a baby arrives early or poorly, and we wanted the brothers and sisters to know that we value them too. The bags will contain a 'big brother' or 'big sister' t-shirt, colouring books, pencils, a book to read to their baby sibling, some chocolate and a few First Touch goodies.
The bag itself will be a drawstring cotton bag – and this is where we'd love some help. We'd like to get a colourful design printed on the bag, and are asking for submissions of designs for our 'super sibling sack' competition. The only thing the design must include are the words 'First Touch Charity.' The rest is up to the imagination of the individual artist.
The winner will receive one of the bags with his or her design on it, First Touch goodies and a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher. The judges will be Neonatal nurses and doctors.
So, whether you draw unicorns, scenes of Tooting, families, school friends, animals, abstract designs, space, dinosaurs or something else entirely, please send the artwork to us at First Touch, the neonatal unit, 1st floor, Lanesborough Wing, St George's Hospital, London SW17 0QT. Entries must be received by Thursday 15 March and entrants must be aged 15 or under.
We can't wait to hear from you. Thanks, and good luck!
