Tooting & Mitcham United FC: September 2018 Reviewed!

Midfielder Daryl Coleman has joined the club.

Things haven’t gone quite to plan for Tooting & Mitcham United FC so far this season. Roger Butcher brings us the latest from Imperial Fields.

We have suffered a couple of home defeats in the league which has left us at the wrong end of the table.  Admittedly, there is still a long way to go, but confidence is a bit low on the terraces after the trauma of last season’s relegation.

September has seen us lose all three league games and make an early exit from both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.  In the league I suppose the defeat at Hayes was acceptable as they are likely to be challenging for the top spot later in the season, but the home losses against Ashford, and particularly Bedfont were hard to take as we really should be winning these games if we want a successful season.

In the FA Cup we were well beaten at Woking, but put up a good performance against a team two and a half divisions above us.  But in contrast we were pretty unconvincing in our defeat at Aveley in the FA Trophy.

There were a couple of bright spots in the minor cup competitions as we got past Margate in the Bostik League Cup.  Although it might be said that Margate did not play their strongest XI it was still a game that needed winning and we got through 2-0 with goals from Razzaq Coleman and Elijah Simpson.

Coleman and Simpson were also on target in our best performance of the month when we beat Hanwell Town 4-3 away in the London Senior Cup.  So our 2 best efforts were reserved for a couple of the minor competitions, which I know some people don’t really consider important. But its always good to win a trophy! And maybe a good run in one of these cups may turn out to be the catalyst for some better results in the league.

In the meantime, manager Ashley Bosah has moved into the transfer market to address some of the team’s shortcomings, and has brought in midfielder, Daryl Coleman, who has plenty of experience at our level.  Hopefully he will be the catalyst for improved results.

We only have 1 home game scheduled for October, a league game against Hertford Town, so the team would really appreciate any additional support as we try to turn the corner and string a couple of good results together.

Upcoming Home Fixtures:

Hertford Town – Sat 6th October – 3:00pm

Ware – Sat 10th November – 3:00pm

Come along – the 280 bus stops right outside!
