Annual Multifaith Peace Ceremony this Wednesday

Annual Multifaith Peace Ceremony this Wednesday

Last year’s Peace Ceremony

All are welcome at the annual BATCA Peace Ceremony this Wednesday, 10 October, 6pm to 7pm.

The event brings together faith and civic leaders and the general public to affirm values of peace and community. Faith leaders in traditional robes will gather outside Tooting Broadway tube station to say short prayers for peace. Civic leaders, including the Mayor of Wandsworth, councillors and business people will attend, emphasising Tooting’s strength and resilience in challenging times. BATCA hopes to have leaders of the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faiths present.
Members of the public will gather and light candles as the sun sets. The event aims to show how faiths can join with the public to celebrate community and affirm shared values. It will be led by the Rev Andrew Davey, vicar of St Augustine’s Church, Broadwater Road.

Kate Allan, BATCA Secretary said, “The Peace Ceremony is a short, yet vivid event that makes a great and positive impact in our community. We look forward to welcoming everyone and hope that the Tooting community will give it their support.”
