Tooting Town Centre Manager and the Tooting Partnership say ‘Shop Local’ this Christmas!
Tooting Town Centre Manager Brian Albuquerque and the Tooting Partnership, would like to remind people that whilst we have some of the best bars and restaurants in SW London and a thriving evening economy, we also have some great independent retail shops open all day, 7 days a week, which sell quality products at competitive prices.
It was Small Business Saturday on December 3rd, with the message spread throughout London to support your local independent businesses and high streets. But this shouldn’t happen for just one day, this should happen every day.
Our high street is full of wonderous things and great gift ideas for presents. If you want jewellery then try Minar Jewellers on the Upper Tooting Road, if perhaps you’re looking for something quirky, cool and different then wander through our covered markets, (Tooting Market and Broadway Market) on Tooting High Street.
Maybe your gift list includes something special for the alcohol connoisseurs in your circle of family and friends – if so, then look no further than our fine independent purveyors of fine wine (Unwined), beer (Craft Tooting), cider (Pilango) and gin (Graveney Gin), which are all in the markets.
We also have great-quality ethnic and ‘fusion wear’ ladies boutiques such as Hali H on the Upper Tooting Road selling everything from exquisite and colourful scarves, shawls, shoes and bracelets. So the guys don’t feel left out, we even have a men’s clothing shop called Scanito Jeans on the Mitcham Road selling top quality branded items from shirts, jackets and yes, jeans.
Tooting is also lucky enough to have a Morleys home store also on Mitcham Road, which is great for glassware, crockery, linen, gifts, kitchenware and much more on two floors all under one roof. Morleys has been in our community for many decades and it would be great to give them your support. if you’re wanting to give a foodie gift, then Chadwicks Butchers on Tooting High Street has it all. Ask in store about a Christmas hamper.
If you head down Garratt Lane, you’ll find Lola & Sidney, a independent business and treasure trove full of vintage and retro homeware. Ask Phil to help you choose a perfect gift for those who have a quirky style.
So if you’re out and about shopping this Christmas then don’t forget to Shop and love your local.
Congratulations to Tooting Market and for a second year, Minar Jewellers for winning business of the year at The Wandsworth Business Awards 2016. Such great news for Tooting High Street.
